In his first days of life, Joshua was a big whimperer. Whimpered all the time- happy or sad, awake or asleep. He would throw in the occasional grunt when he was making dookie, but the vast majority of his vocabulary were soft, high pitched cries.

In the last 2 days he's all about the grunting. Sounds like he's constantly straining to drop the next big thing. But these grunts seem to be unrelated to his bowel movements. I kind of like the sound of his grunts (much manlier than the previous whimpers) so I grunt with him. We go back and forth carrying out entire grunt conversations. Mother doesn't like it much.
